3 Year Old

The aims for the 3 year old group are:

1. To have happy, independent children
2. To promote creative and exploratory thinking and play
3. To encourage children to feel safe and comfortable in trying out new skills and activities
4. To meet other children of their age and commence the formation and foundations of friendship.

Children start the year with shorter hours and smaller groups to allow staff to get to know them on a personal level and to ensure that everyone feels comfortable in the kindergarten setting. The children are rostered to attend for only one hour for the first two weeks and two hours in the third and fourth weeks. The full 2 ½ hour sessions where all children attend on Mondays and Fridays commence in the fifth week.

The program consists of inside activities, mat time and morning or afternoon tea, outside activities and stories. All children participate in different ways at these activities and are encouraged to join in mat time songs, dances, games and discussion.
